Scrape the excess off the carpet. Then you want to mix one-teaspoon detergent, one teaspoon white vinegar, and one quart of warm water. Rinse it well and blot it to get out the stain. 

Carbonation from soda makes it easier to clean unless the soda has any dyes in it. For example, grape juice has lots of dyes in it. This makes it hard for even a professional carpet cleaner to clean. You want to blot it as much as possible. Try vinegar and water. Keep blotting and repeating this process in attempt to remove the stain, however, if it is something that has dyes in it you may want to call your local carpet cleaner.
